Second time of Fuji Tozan relay.
Same leg same shit. The difference is that covid virus decided to join this time 4 days before, which may make this a bit harder. Thus, plenty of excuses can be used, heartbeat never get calm, phlegm stuck in throat, breath get heavy easily, rusty legs for almost no run the entire week. Even though knowing I may be able to run on weekends, I was really hoping that someone could just replace me instead.
Same as always, 6th leg people will stay the night in the hut up there. Mountain life is simple, all you can eat curry, observing atmospheric optical phenomena like anticrepuscular rays and sleep.
Being waken up by the hut stuff to see sunrise, having breakfast and getting back to sleep, apparently I was not as energetic as last year that even took a walk to the top before race started.
Trying to warm up a bit at 8 and finding that my breath got heavy extremely soon that I needed to stop my legs, I was already imagining I might blow this up.
When I got the sashi from Tom, I was extremely calm and even told Tom where my bag is that he won't be helpless for 50 mins.
Trying to get my legs and breath control, pushing but not pushing.
Top always looks so far when you are struggling even though it's actually only 400m away. Getting stamp on our sashi in front of the shrine, bringing it back down with my rusty legs and suddenly flank pain.
I was glad I could pass it back to Tom.
